UNSEEN VOYAGE: Winner of the first annual FENSfund poetry contest

I dangled my feet into the overriding current of that plateau,
My feet touched the floor-
My feet have never experienced water before.

First my feet, then up to my calves
My feet began this journey,
now reaching to my hands.

My hands maneuvered throughout
Got all caught up in that tidal wave
Once my feet stopped, on the lookout.

my legs moved to no penetrable rhythm
my feet played along
while my hands realized no difference.

My feet picked up speed, the watch was over-
I handed my legs up to my feet
And they drew each other that much closer.
